This position in our collections team is a rare opportunity to take a step up into a highly sought-after role, which cares for our heritage collection of more than 45,000 objects that spans taonga Māori, fashion, industry, technology, domestic life and natural history.
We are looking for a highly organised person, who can juggle multiple projects at once. A confident communicator, you will promote use of, and access to the collection. You will work alongside our Heritage Curator on collection development and exhibition related registration duties, while also ensuring the long-term wellbeing of the collections. Te Manawa currently has a major audit and collection rationalisation project, as we work towards a collection move. We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail and the energy and passion to drive this project with pragmatism and sensitivity.
This role would suit applicants with a Postgraduate qualification in Museum and Heritage Studies and/or a Graduate in History, Māori Studies or similar with 2-3 years’ experience in an object handling and collection care-based role within the GLAM sector.
