Are you an experienced curator who is passionate about the heritage of our motu and people? This is a rare opportunity to join a newly formed curatorial team at Te Manawa in a unique role that will work with Tangata whenua and tauiwi to explore meaningful and relevant narratives with our communities, both in the Manawatū and further afield.
This position will be responsible for researching, developing and leading heritage-based exhibitions at Te Manawa and will be a key contact for Rangitāne and the Te Manawa Museum Society, as well as contribute to the development of our heritage-based collections and public programmes.
Our ideal candidate has exceptional organisational skills, is a confident public speaker and writer and work well with a variety of people both internally and externally. We’re looking for someone with an undergraduate tertiary qualification or proven relevant experience in a heritage related field (e.g. New Zealand Histories, Māori Studies, Political studies, Anthropology, Classical studies). A post graduate qualification in a Heritage and/or Museum studies field or similar would be an advantage, as is some knowledge of Te Reo Māori and a sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori.
